In March 1968, Amarillo, Texas, witnessed multiple UFO sightings over a period of one hour and forty minutes before sunrise. Three different witnesses reported seeing unidentified flying objects, with descriptions ranging from a thick-edged plate to bright lights moving eastward. A night shift worker at a gas station observed an object that remained stationary before rapidly accelerating, while a military nurse described a sound similar to a wind tunnel and an object moving at high speed. Despite multiple sightings, there were no radar traces of unusual objects. The official conclusion pointed to conventional explanations, such as aircraft with landing lights on, and optical phenomena caused by a thermal inversion trapping a layer of smoke.
