🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In March 1968, a witness in Salem, Ohio, reported seeing an unusual aerial object. The object resembled a blimp, with a red front, blue middle, and a very bright white rear. According to the report, the object was less than 100 yards high, emitted a swishing sound, and its brightness exceeded that of fluorescent lights. The witness estimated the object was visible for 6-7 seconds, though in a later version, they stated it was visible for a minute and passed behind a cloud at one point. Local police confirmed they had not received any similar reports that month.
The Air Force report noted there was insufficient information for a scientific investigation and requested the witness to complete a detailed questionnaire. Despite inconsistencies in timing and descriptions, the case was logged as an unidentified aerial phenomenon. The lack of physical evidence or additional witnesses made it difficult to provide a clear explanation, leaving open the possibility of an unexplained phenomenon or a misinterpretation of terrestrial objects.
