Summary

In August 1968, a witness in Tucson, Arizona, observed a bright red light in the sky. The phenomenon was seen for approximately five minutes and was described as a strong flame, similar to a hot air balloon. The light suddenly went out and there were no subsequent sightings. Weather conditions indicated light winds toward the southwest, which did not rule out the possibility of it being a hot air balloon. Although no conclusive evidence was found, the report suggested it could have been a terrestrial object.

The official U.S. Air Force report concluded that there was insufficient evidence to determine that the sighting was of an unidentified object. It was considered that the object could have been a hot air balloon, given the description of the flame and the weather conditions at the time. The observer did not report any other phenomena or physical effects, and there were no other witnesses present. Despite the brief nature of the sighting, the case was documented as part of the records of unidentified aerial phenomena from that era.
