🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In September 1968, an unidentified flying object was reported in Presque Isle, Maine. The case, part of Project 10073, notes that the witness called the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base but provided no details about the sighting. A form AF 117 was sent to the observer to gather more information, but it was never returned. The lack of concrete data prevented a scientific investigation. This case reflects the difficulty the Air Force had in obtaining useful information from witnesses.
The report, dated September 27, 1968, states the observation was made from the ground and visually. No physical characteristics or photographs of the object were reported. The Air Force requested the witness to complete the form and return it, but there was no response. The officer in charge, Lieutenant Colonel Hector Quintanilla, thanked the witness, though he noted there was insufficient information for a technical analysis. This case, like many others, remains unresolved.
