Summary

In April 1969, an observer at McClellan AFB, California, reported a very bright light that appeared to move without a fixed pattern. The object remained roughly at an azimuth of 251 degrees, with an elevation of 25 degrees. Initially thought to be the planet Jupiter, its unusual behavior raised doubts. The report notes that the light had the same magnitude as an extremely close planet, but it was not conclusively identified.

The officer who observed the phenomenon used normal vision and binoculars but could not identify the object. The observation lasted at least one hour, and other observers at the base also confirmed the presence of the light. Despite initial investigations, no known or identifiable object was found. The report suggests it might be a weather satellite, but the lack of concrete data keeps the mystery alive.
