🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
An Air Intelligence Information Report from 1952 describes the observation of a circular object over Lake Tazawa in Japan. Three witnesses confirmed the sighting visually, which lasted approximately 10 minutes. The object, initially red, changed to orange and then disappeared below the horizon. There were no radar records or other aircraft activity in the area. The observers, including military personnel, provided detailed and consistent accounts, adding credibility to the report. The object's vertical descent was described, possibly explained by atmospheric refraction, but other explanations were not ruled out.
The report, classified for internal use only, does not include definitive conclusions. However, the data provided, such as the estimated altitude and the object's behavior, are consistent with other unidentified aerial phenomena reports from the Cold War era. Although no clear identification was achieved, the case remains an interesting example of how UFO sightings were documented and analyzed during that time.
