🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
A witness in Mesa, Arizona, reported seeing a formation of objects shaped like a "W" with a steady fluorescent glow. The incident occurred when the observer, who had gone outside to rest, noticed the objects just above the horizon. He described them as roughly the size of ducks at shotgun range and flying in a straight line. Initially, he thought they were geese, but upon reflection, he concluded they were kidney-shaped. The Air Force investigated the case, considering possible explanations like birds, bats, meteor showers, or aircraft, but no definitive conclusion was reached.
The official report found no clear explanation for the sighting. Possible explanations included light reflecting from birds or bats, a meteor shower, a tanker with refueling lights on, or a large aircraft with landing lights. Of these, the last option seemed most plausible. However, the lack of sound or visible trail from the objects complicated the investigation. Decades after the event, the declassified document remains an unsolved mystery.
