🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
On the night of June 15, 1952, a spherical luminous object was spotted over Virginia, prompting multiple reports from witnesses and pilots. Two key aerial observations came from a seaplane and a USAF T-33 jet, both positioned at different altitudes above the object. The seaplane, piloted by Captain Glenn, observed it at 9,000 feet, while the T-33, flown by Captain Williams, saw it at 10,000 feet. Both described a spherical, glowing object moving slowly southeast.
In addition to the pilots, five ground witnesses reported the phenomenon. Among them, a CAA operator in Blackstone estimated the object to be between 29,000 and 30,000 feet in altitude. Weather conditions were variable, with scattered clouds and limited visibility, making a clear identification difficult. Despite the Air Force's investigation efforts, no conventional explanation, such as a weather balloon or an unidentified aircraft, was found.
