🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In May 1948, a UFO incident was reported in Monroe, Michigan, when a passenger on a C-47 aircraft at 8000 feet observed shiny, disc-like objects. The objects appeared descending from a high cloud layer, leveled off at the aircraft's altitude, and traveled in the opposite direction at high speed. They left no trail and had a silvery or brass-like appearance. An investigator suggested they could have been sunlight beams through breaks in the overcast, but this didn't fully explain the contradictory observations.
The official Air Intelligence Command report considered psychological and physiological factors as possible explanations, as witnesses often struggle to estimate speed, distance, and size. Despite this, the case didn't fit a clear pattern and remained without a definitive explanation. This document is part of a broader study that examined 34 similar unresolved incidents.
