In 1966, the Australian Department of Defence received multiple reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs) across the country. These cases were investigated by the Royal Australian Air Force, in collaboration with intelligence units and civilian personnel. The reports included sightings of bright lights, unusual shapes, and inexplicable movements. Despite efforts to analyze each case, most were attributed to natural phenomena, satellites, or civilian aircraft. Some cases, like that of Leslie Rolib Gray, who observed a boomerang-shaped object, were considered of interest but no definitive conclusions were reached. The report also mentions the involvement of civilian groups and the difficulty in obtaining official responses, which led to criticism and demands for greater transparency. Ultimately, the Department concluded there was no threat to national security and decided not to pursue further investigations.
