Between 11:00 and 11:25 PM on April 30, 1977, several witnesses in Cagnes-sur-Mer saw a strange light in the sky accompanied by a hissing or crackling sound. The gendarmerie was notified late and found no physical traces. Testimonies diverged on many points, making a precise description difficult.
