In July 1979, a scientist specialising in light and colour watched a stationary luminous phenomenon in the sky over Pranles, Ardèche, for 45 minutes. He described a yellow-orange light source projecting a blue beam that rotated continuously through 360 degrees, illuminating the ground. A neighbour independently confirmed the sighting.
