In September 1990, five witnesses in Privas observed three blurry white and yellowish glowing spheres, as if seen through clouds. The event occurred around 10:15 PM and intrigued those present. A sixth witness, living in a nearby area, offered an alternative explanation: he claimed the lights were reflections of three powerful ground-based spotlights shining onto the clouds. Although the initial description suggested something unusual, the hypothesis of terrestrial lights helped to contextualize the event in a more conventional way.
The case was classified as "A" by the GEIPAN, indicating that it was not completely dismissed as a possible unexplained phenomenon, but it was not considered a high-priority case either. This kind of report often shows how the ordinary can appear mysterious under certain atmospheric and lighting conditions.
