Summary

In October 1993, in the French region of Pas-de-Calais, the owners of a house noticed strange marks in their garden. These included wavy lines of flattened grass and a circle formed at the intersection of two of those lines. The witnesses reported the presence of a yellowish light near the ground and unusual behavior from the dogs. However, after reviewing the case decades later, the GEIPAN concluded there was no clear evidence of an aerial phenomenon. The mentioned light was not linked to the marks and could have been a natural occurrence or even a coincidence. Additionally, the GEIPAN does not investigate ground marks without simultaneous reports of an aerial event. Therefore, the case was reevaluated and classified as "inexplicable" but outside the scope of the organization.

The case review showed how current technology and experience allow for a better interpretation of past events. Although it was once considered an unidentified aerial phenomenon, it is now understood that the marks could have terrestrial explanations, such as animals, people, or even natural phenomena. The GEIPAN emphasizes that its role is not to solve mysteries without aerial evidence, but to focus on cases with clear testimonies of unidentified flying objects. This case, therefore, is considered "inexplicable" but not attributable to an aerial phenomenon.
