🇫🇷 GEIPAN / CNES
In October 1994, a hunter in Saint-Cirgues (France) observed a cylindrical, shiny object with metallic silver reflections for 25 to 30 minutes. The witness, during a hunting trip, saw the object move silently, displaying red and blue lights. Later, his brother confirmed having seen something similar near his home. Both described a metallic, cylindrical object moving slowly near the ground. After re-examining the case with new tools and experience, the GEIPAN concluded it was likely a Mylar balloon, a type of metallic balloon that floats depending on weather conditions. The most plausible explanation is that the balloon, launched the previous day, had sunk during the night and resumed floating the next morning as it warmed up with the sun.
