Summary

On August 17, 2012, a person was observing the sky with binoculars when they noticed a bright point moving in a zigzag pattern and blinking irregularly. The testimony was collected nearly a year later, in November 2013. An astronomical check revealed that two satellites, Cosmos 2322 and 2360, had followed nearby trajectories, although with low brightness. While the blinking could suggest an airplane, the zigzag motion didn't fit that hypothesis. However, in that area, air traffic along a north-south axis is common, making it likely that the object was an airplane. The zigzag could be explained by an optical illusion caused by synchronized anti-collision lights and autokinetic effect, where the brain misinterprets the movement of a bright point. The GEIPAN classified this case as "B": a probable airplane observation with a perceptual illusion (blinking lights and autokinetic effect).
