Summary

In December 1952, a U.S. Air Force B-29 bomber, piloted by Captain John Harter, recorded a series of encounters with unidentified flying objects (UFOs) over the Gulf of Mexico. At 5:24 a.m., while flying at 18,000 feet, the radar officer, Lieutenant Sid Coleman, detected multiple blips on the screen. Within a minute, 25 objects appeared approximately 25 miles from the aircraft, moving at an estimated speed of over 5,000 miles per hour. The UFOs moved in a straight line at high speed, and no interception attempt was made.

The incident escalated quickly: more objects appeared, some of which approached the B-29, causing great alarm among the crew. A bright object was visually seen, disappearing under the plane's wing. Later, the UFOs grouped and accelerated to speeds exceeding 9,000 miles per hour, vanishing from radar. The crew confirmed there were no technical errors or optical illusions, and the data matched across the three radar systems used. This case is one of the most documented in UFO history, standing out for the accuracy of the records and the consistency between testimonies and technical data.
