🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In April 1957, 10-year-old Patrick Murphy discovered a 30-inch-wide crater in his backyard in San Gabriel, California. The impact was preceded by a sonic boom that woke up the neighborhood. Although no one saw the object fall, the army and explosive experts began a careful excavation to find any possible missile or unidentified object. Speculation ranged from a missile, meteorite, or even a UFO. After digging 20 feet without results, it was concluded there was no dangerous object buried. However, the mystery remained, and rumors mixed with reality.
Army investigators, led by Captain Robert Jackson, stated that something had entered the ground, but could not confirm what. Explosions were ruled out, and the possibility of a meteorite or natural object was considered. Despite excavations, nothing was found, and the crater was filled with dirt. The story attracted journalists and curious onlookers, and although no concrete discovery was made, the incident became a classic case of an unresolved UFO. The boy and his family became part of a story that continues to intrigue researchers of unexplained aerial phenomena.
