UFO Sighted in Uruguay in 1957

Summary

In June 1957, a 19-year-old Uruguayan woman from Campanero observed an aerial object described as solid, round and flattened, with a bright, blue-gray color. The object moved in a straight line from south to north at a steady speed and emitted a distinct sound: a sharp, prolonged whistle, almost like a whistle. Although no photographs were taken and the exact duration of the sighting was not recorded, witnesses confirmed that the object did not leave a trail and did not accelerate or slow down. The windows of the house vibrated during the observation, adding an unusual element to the case. Despite the lack of precise data, the report concluded it was a flying saucer.

The report from the Center for Investigation of Unidentified Flying Objects (CIOVI) in Uruguay highlighted the metallic appearance of the object and the unusual sound as key elements. It was compared to other similar cases in the region, such as the one observed by Juan Ramón Mora in 1958, where a buzzing sound similar to a bee was described. Although the official analysis indicated that the data was insufficient for a conclusive evaluation, local researchers concluded that the observed phenomenon was a UFO.
