🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1958, southwest of Bermuda, multiple sightings of green objects traveling at high speed were recorded. A KC-97 and several local residents reported these phenomena, some of which appeared to disintegrate. The objects were seen in five different locations, moving in opposite directions, making their identification challenging. Although initially considered as balloons or aircraft, investigators concluded they were likely meteors or fireballs, common celestial events in the area. The observations, though brief, generated a detailed report by military authorities.
The U.S. Air Force investigated the sightings, concluding the objects were likely meteors. It was noted that fireballs, often green, had been frequently reported that year. Despite the lack of images or precise data, there was no evidence of non-natural activity. The report, classified and later declassified, shows how even in the 1950s, UFO sightings generated scientific and military interest, although in this case, they were resolved conventionally.
