Summary

In April 1962, a witness in Thayer, Kansas, reported an object with a reddish glow moving in an arc from west to east. The observation lasted only two seconds, but it left a clear impression. The object, described as smaller than an aircraft, had a tail composed of bright white dots, leading investigators to consider it could be a bolide or meteor. The witness, a respected local radio host, observed without optical aids and described the event calmly, without seeking publicity. Although several explanations such as balloons or aircraft were considered, no definitive conclusion was reached.

The night atmosphere was partly cloudy with strong winds at different altitudes, further complicating identification. Detailed weather conditions and the precise location of the sighting were recorded, but no conventional explanations fit the testimony. Ultimately, investigators concluded there was no identifiable valid cause for the sighting, leaving the door open to the possibility of an unconventional phenomenon.
