🇺🇸 USAF — Project Blue Book
In July 1964, a man submitted a rock fragment to U.S. military authorities, convinced it came from an unidentified flying object. The sample was sent to the Air Force Special Weapons Center for analysis. Results showed it was a common silicate rock from the region, with no indication of extraterrestrial origin. Although the report concluded there was no UFO evidence, the analysis used advanced methods like spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction, showing the scientific rigor applied to UFO reports.
The sample was examined using physical and chemical methods, including emission, X-ray, and infrared analysis, and it was determined to contain no organic material or unusual elements. The rock, while unusual in appearance, was of terrestrial origin. The report was filed without further conclusions, but the case illustrates how the Air Force handled UFO reports with scientific care, even when results were unremarkable.
