Summary

In November 1968, a captain in the Spanish Air Force stationed in Constantina observed an unusual luminous phenomenon that defied conventional explanation. From his window, the officer saw an extremely bright light in the northwest direction, which moved in an irregular pattern, alternating between maximum intensity and a brightness similar to that of a faint star. This cycle repeated several times, and the phenomenon was witnessed by five additional people, including his wife and personnel from the base. Although the witnesses ruled out the possibility of it being an aircraft, due to the light's unusual behavior, investigators noted that distance and altitude estimates were subjective. The light showed no discernible shape or position lights, adding to the mystery.

The official report concluded that no data were found to identify the phenomenon's origin. Although Venus and Vega were in the sky, their position and brightness did not match the description of the sighting. The file was classified as declassified, with no need to maintain it as sensitive material. Although no further investigations were conducted, the case remains an example of how the Spanish military documented unexplained aerial phenomena over half a century ago.
